How the University of Kentucky’s “Donation for Citations” is Making a Difference

March 02, 2017

We read an interesting article today about a University of Kentucky program that allows students and others parking on campus to pay of a standard parking citations with the donation of food and personal care items. Donations accepted will go directly to an on campus food pantry that helps support students who struggle with hunger. Last year this program brought in 2,441 pounds of food and 381 pounds of personal care items. Only one standard parking citation can be waived by donating 10 quality items, this program is available to students, faculty, staff and even visitors through March 10th 2017.

While the program is only available for a short amount of time it made us wonder, what other creative ways can parking services on college campuses help serve their community, while also making sure that parking citations are not ignored?
